Let's talk : Gossip Girl - 5.04 - Memoirs Of An Invisible Dan

As you see the title of this episode, this episode was mainly about Dan's book being released. The release of his book "Inside" however has some negative consequences. He organizes a meeting with his friends before the book is officially released at a party so that they are warned who the author is. The book is inspired by his friends Serena, Blair, Nate, Chuck but also his own father Rufus. In the beginning, they all seem to be happy for him but as they all start to read the book, they are all angry at him and his father, well, he is dissapointed in Dan because he described his own father as a loser who gave up his music career to care for his children and who is now a trophy husband. Blair is pissed at Dan because he wrote that she and him had sex while it's completely untrue. Unfortunately Prince Louis reads the book too and for a moment believes it until Chuck convinces him to stay with Blair.

Prince Louis apologizes to Blair later and everything is okay again. In the meanwhile his sister Beatrice and his mother are on the way to meet them so that they can tell everyone that Blair is pregnant.
Serena is angry at Dan because he described her as flighty and irresponsible. She can't believe that he wrote that about her, especially because they used to date and she thinks she only wrote the bad sides of everyone, including her. She evens asks him "do you even remember the girl that you fell in love with?".
He replies to her by describing his own character and that he cares more for a pretty blonde than he does his own future and in the end, none of his friends are happy for his success. That all his friends turn their back on him and that he deserves it. Serena says that he indeed deserves it.
Nate is pissed because he thought he was Dan's best friend and he barely gets any credit in the book. He doesn't mind that Dan made his character a little gay but he does care about the fact that he doesn't seem to be like an important character in his book. Just like in the book, Dan doesn't have any friends left in the end of this episode
As last, Chuck is like the only one who doesn't really about the book but he does realise that he doesn't want to end up like his character in the book. His character Charlie Trout ends up being alone with no friends & family and commits suicide. Dan's agent says to him that it's even more sad if his staff would find him instead of his friends or family..

Oh and there is a cute moment between Blair & Chuck before everyone goes to Lily's appartment to meet up with Dan. They so belong together, sigh.
Second point of this episode is that Serena is still working for that woman but is afraid to lose her job because of how Dan described her in his book "Inside". However, it turns out good because her boss likes the book so much that she is asking Serena to convince Dan to get the movie rights. She wants to make the book into a movie. Serena explains that she isn't on good terms with Dan right now after she read how she is being potrayed in the book by Dan. Her boss still asks her to claim the movie rights and gives her a week, Serena agrees.
Third point is Blair & Serena finally catching up again because Serena was so busy with her hectic job. Blair said during Dan's meeting that she is sleeping everytime because she still has a jetlag from Monaco but later on she tells Serena that she is actually sleeping a lot because she is pregnant. Serena is so happy for her and they hug each other, I like their friendship so much. Serena says "I love you. Let me know if you need me."

Fourth point of this episode is that "Charlie" is still looking for her phone which she lost at the fashion show last week. During Dan's meeting Nate asks Serena if she knows any Ivy because he saw her phonenumber in the contactlist of Ivy. Serena is about to call the number until Dan arrives and "Charlie" is saved by the bell. Now that Ivy knows who her phone has, she goes on a mission to get her phone back. She visits Nate at his job and tries to "help" him by saying that she probably saw some blonde woman who had that phone. Diana comes in and asks Nate what's going on, Nate says that "Charlie" is only trying to help him to find out who the owner of the mysterious phone is and that "Charlie" is trustworthy. Diana wants to talk to Nate privately and says to him that she wants her out of there because it's private business but before Nate even says a word to "Charlie", she is leaving already WITH her phone that she took from the desk. Later that day Diana calls the number of that phone and Ivy picks up, Diana finds out that "Charlie" is indeed Ivy just like she thought already. Ivy begs Diana to not say anything to the rest and Diana says she won't say anything but of course there is a price to pay for that. Ivy starts working for Diana just like Nate. He then wonders if there is something more to it that "Charlie" suddenly works for Diana as well, Diana says no and that certain things just have to remain mysterious.

What did you "Gossip Girl" fans out there think of this week's episode? Have to say that I liked the previous episode more but that's probably because of the fact that the ending was so sad and the performance of Ed Westwick was so good. There was also more Blair & Chuck in it.
