The Tutankhamun exhibition
There is this Tutankhamun exhibition (http://www.kingtutbrussels.be/) that I visited which has been in Belgium since April this year and ends this week, it was extended even. Here are some photos that I took, I took more but I decided to take a small selection else there would be too many. I also have a book of the exhibition and it's really interesting to read when you didn't have time to see and read everything there. I thought the exhibition was really interesting and I really hope to visit Egypt someday so that I can see with my own eyes the pyramids, the Sphinx and many other things.
These are some of the things that Howard Carter and other people had found before they had discovered the mummy of Tutankhamun
And then they came into another chamber and as you can see there is the dog Anubis who is garding something
In this tombe is where they found one big coffin
One of the sealed walls
In his coffin were 4 other coffins who became smaller and smaller and in the end they found the corpse of the pharaoh himself
4 Gods protecting it
So amazing
The 4th and last coffin before they discovered the pharaoh himself
Before they saw the real corpse, they first saw this, it was fully made out of gold
The real pharaoh burried in his golden coffin
The golden mask that was put on him when he was burried and of course he didn't look like this, it was only an idealistic version of how he perhaps looked like
Some of his jewels
Anubis
These 4 women are protecting his organs such as his liver that were taken out when he was burried
One of the many statues that were found there
His throne, you can see a loving image of his wife and him on it
His transport during fights for example
One of the many shields
Their furniture back then, did you know that closets didn't exist back then? They simply weren't invented yet.
Yep, cosmetics was already in use back then. Pharaohs or Egyptians used to wear eyeliner for example and they would shave their head because they thought it was beautiful back then but also to avoid lice. You see what kind of beautiful stone ware they had back then for their creames for example?
Then it was the end of the exhibition, you could read some more information about Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter as a closure
Really liked this image when I saw it so I had to make a photo of it
Anyone else who finds the history of ancient Egypt interesting? Or anyone else that has been to this exhibition?
Xoxo
